Earn the DCBCN credential — the highest standard of clinical nutrition certification within chiropractic practice.

Requirements

To be eligible for the DCBCN certification examination, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Active Chiropractic License

    Candidates must hold a current, unrestricted license to practice chiropractic in their jurisdiction.

  • 300 Hours of Clinical Nutrition Education

    Completion of a minimum of 300 hours of post-graduate clinical nutrition coursework from an approved program.

  • Case Studies Submission

    Submission and approval of a minimum of 3 case studies demonstrating clinical nutrition application.

  • Good Standing

    No history of disciplinary action, license revocation, or ethical violations related to professional practice.

Exam Process

The DCBCN certification examination is a comprehensive assessment of clinical nutrition knowledge and its practical application in chiropractic care.

Written Examination

A comprehensive written exam covering biochemistry, physiology, clinical nutrition assessment, and evidence-based nutritional interventions. The exam consists of 200 multiple-choice questions administered over a full day.

Oral Examination

An oral examination conducted before a panel of board-certified diplomates. Candidates are evaluated on clinical reasoning, patient case analysis, and application of nutritional science to real-world scenarios.

Results & Credentialing

Exam results are typically available within 6–8 weeks. Successful candidates receive their DCBCN certificate and are listed in the CBCN Diplomate Directory.

Continuing Education

Maintaining the DCBCN credential requires ongoing commitment to professional development. Diplomates must fulfill continuing education requirements every two years to ensure their knowledge remains current with the latest advances in clinical nutrition science.

60 CE Hours per Cycle

Complete 60 hours of approved continuing education in clinical nutrition topics every two-year renewal period.

Approved Programs

CE must be completed through CBCN-approved programs, seminars, or accredited online courses in clinical nutrition.

Ethics Requirement

A minimum of 2 hours of ethics training must be included in each renewal cycle.
